BLUFF FUEL FARM DEMOLITION

The Bluff Exit Project required the decommissioning of the former Z fuel depot in Bluff. This site had operated as a fuel depot since the 1950’s and was to be decommissioned, cleared and handed back to the port authority.

Works consisted of demolition of three small buildings and three former fuel tanks within the site, along with replacement of approximately 80m of security fencing, inground interceptors (including backfill) and minor earth works to level the site. The intent of the project was for Z Energy to remove the structures and create a tidy graded site for handover back to South Port Ltd. Due to the nature of the site and the contaminates within the soil controls were strict and Ryal Bush successfully undertook this project with no environmental or safety breaches.

The job was completed using three of our diggers - a demolition specification 35 and 45 along with a standard 20 Tonne Excavator. Attachments include hydraulic crushing jaws, hydraulic hammer, clam/grab bucket, custom designed pick and digging buckets to demolish and load out waste material as required. A range of Ryal Bush tip trucks, hook trucks and waste bins were used to remove waste from site. With the access available on site, we were able to use a truck and trailer combination capable of carrying loads of up to 27 Tonne. all trucks removing soils from site were fitted with covers to ensure secure loads including any potential dust are contained. Our custom designed trucking dispatch system is utilised for tracking all truck movements and all trucks are fitted with GPS, cameras and tablets to ensure full traceability of each and every load.
